Yet another priest in the Diocese of Rochester uses his bulletin to promote women's ordination. In the June 28 edition, Fr. Kevin Murphy, pastor of St. Louis Church, hopes that during the Year of the Priest, "we would consider the possibility that God has planted the vocation to Priesthood in women’s lives." (You will recall that Fr. Dan Holland offered similar sentiments last summer.)

I will be writing Fr. Murphy in a few hours. He needs to be informed that what he is doing is wrong, and may have drastic consequences for our Church. His words have a greater chance of promoting schism than they do of making our Church stronger. Just look at Spiritus Christi. Does he want more women to follow in Mary's footsteps and have herself "ordained", thus excommunicating themselves from the Catholic Church?
He needs to look past his selfish desire, and think of what could happen as a result of his words.
Pray for his soul. Pray for the souls he may lead astray because of his commentary.
Please retire.
Your pal,
Joe
A brief note to the CDF might be in order. It will get read and they never throw anything away.
A word of advice on writing to the CDF:
The CDF, from what I have heard, requires evidence to be in writing. Thus, one will need to send the bulletin if they are considering a report to this congregation. You most likely will not receive a personal reply from them. However, they will read what you send, and should take action if they find these comments to be troubling (which seems possible).
Priests should not be using their bulletins to trumpet the ordination of women to the priesthood, contrary to the infallible Ordinatio Sacerdotalis.

I can't believe I'm saying this... but the priests that Bishop Clark has ordained actually appear more "orthodox" than the ones ordained by his recent predecessors. Doesn't it seem like all the major liturgical abusers and all the open dissenters in our area are age 60 or higher? I'm serious, isn't almost every problem priest/P.A. in the DoR over 60?
Fr. Holland, Fr. Murphy, Sr. Joan, etc. All of them are close to retirement. Better days are on the horizon. As Pope Benedict mentioned, we may end up with a smaller Church, but it will be much more orthodox.
Fr. Murphy published support for the ordination of women in his bulletin? Even I wouldn't go that far.
Sr. Joan
